A neck lift is an anti-aging facial plastic surgery that removes extra skin from the neck to address sagging, wrinkles, and looseness. It is often performed alongside a facelift and generally on patients between the ages of 45 and 65. Before surgery, patients tend to have questions about recovery. Let’s look at one of the most common questions, “How long does a neck lift take to heal?”
There are two ways to answer this question. On the practical side, patients usually return to work in about a week, and most activities, including exercise, in two to three weeks. Occasionally, some activities or visible swelling may stick around for around six to eight weeks.
However, like most plastic surgeries, Dr. Santos will generally continue monitoring your progress over nine months to one year. While most visible swelling diminishes within two weeks, some underlying swelling can remain for much longer. Additionally, while rare, complications or cosmetic concerns can still crop up. Primarily, this has to do with lumps or issues with the incisions or scarring. Generally, these are not major concerns.
