TEMPLE FILLER SEATTLE AND TACOMA

Even when taking good care of your skin, eating well, and undergoing anti-aging treatments, there are some unavoidable aspects of aging. For some people, this includes fat loss in the face that can lead to a gaunt, aged look. There are many options to treat this which can include brow lift surgery. However, one of the most effective and popular options is temple filler injections. The injectors at Seattle Plastic Surgery provide the best temple filler Seattle and Tacoma offers.

TEMPLE FILLERS SUMMARIZED

Temple filler, also sometimes called temporal filler, is non-surgical injections of dermal fillers into the temples. The procedure is performed to treat the signs of aging as well as generalized fat loss in the face. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm are the most common fillers utilized for the treatment, though Sculptra and Radiesse can also be used.

The treatment does not only treat aging. Temple filler can also create the coveted “cat eye” look and lift the brows slightly. Patients may also want to achieve a more heart shaped face which is sometimes possible with dermal filler injections in the temple. Aging is also not the only cause of hollowed temples.

I had injections a few months ago here. Botox and filler. My experience was excellent. When I called to make an appointment the person on the phone was professional and friendly. The injector was amazing and so were my results! I never felt I was being sold to or pressured into anything. I will certainly return when the time comes.

I got a lip filler with a nurse and she was great. She made sure I was informed and comfortable. The staff was also really friendly and efficient. I'd highly recommend seattle plastics for fillers.

Why The Face Loses Volume

Facial thinning is often one of the hallmarks of aging and a frequent reason patients see hollow temples form. This is due to a few processes of aging. First off, your skin stops producing as much collagen and elastin. Over time, this thins the skin and makes hollows more noticeable, such as under the eyes and temples. Additionally, sagging of the brow can accentuate hollowed temples as well.

Secondly, tissue breakdowns with age. This is natural with aging and while it may not occur to an extreme extent for every person, it is especially visible in thin or athletic individuals as they age. Finally, some people may even experience bone loss in the temples or face that may contribute to hollowed temples.

However, aging is not the only reason hollowed temples may appear. Among some of the other causes include:

  • Weight loss or fluctuation
  • Genetics
  • Athletic lifestyle
  • Thinning skin
  • Certain medical conditions or treatments

Benefits Of Temple Filler

Temple fillers come with many benefits for patients who are candidates. Along with the simplicity and rapid nature of the procedure, temple filler also features benefits and advantages such as:

  • Lift the eyes and brows
  • Treat crow’s feet wrinkles
  • Creates a “cat eye” effect
  • Reduce the appearance of other facial wrinkles
  • Changes in face shape
  • Restores lost facial volume
  • Corrects and treats the signs of aging
  • Certain fillers can improve skin thickness and appearance
  • Reversible (only hyaluronic acid fillers)
  • Low risk
  • Little to no downtime
  • Temporary results allow you to try multiple types of fillers and techniques
  • Little to no pain during injections
  • Performed by an expert injector
  • Overall younger look

TEMPLE FILLERS vs. BOTOX

For the upper part of the face, BOTOX is likely the most frequently used cosmetic injectable in the area. Can BOTOX provide enhancement to the temples? It depends on what you hope to treat. BOTOX and temple filler can both treat crow’s feet which are the wrinkles that appear at the corners of the eyes. Therefore, your injector may recommend BOTOX if your only concern is crow’s feet.

However, if you have hollowed temples, BOTOX is unlikely to make much of a difference. This is because BOTOX is not a dermal filler. BOTOX temporarily prohibits unnecessary muscle movements to smooth and prevent facial wrinkles. BOTOX injections do not add volume and thus filler injections are the best non-surgical treatment for hollowed temples. See the table below for other differences between filler and BOTOX.

Filler BOTOX
  • Adds or restores volume
  • Plumps up and fills in wrinkles
  • Some stimulate collagen production
  • Results need refreshed every three to eighteen months
  • Better for larger areas of tissue loss or certain wrinkles BOTOX can’t treat (such as the nasolabial folds)
  • Treats wrinkles by stopping some muscle movements
  • Does not have a plumping effect
  • Cannot treat extremely deep wrinkles or wrinkles that are always present
  • Needs refreshed every three to six months

TEMPLE FILLER BEFORE AND AFTER

Meeting With An Injector

Before you receive temple filler injections in Seattle, you will meet with one of Seattle Plastic Surgery’s injectors. They will discuss your goals for the procedure, answer any of your questions, review your medical history, and examine the treatment area. This will allow them to determine if you are a good candidate for temple filler.

If they believe you are a good candidate for the procedure, your injector will describe the injections and filler options with you. In many cases, they can proceed with your temple filler treatment the same day.

Your Filler Injections

For the temple area, it is common to numb the area with a topical numbing cream before injections. This takes approximately fifteen to twenty minutes. Numbing is not necessary for treatment, but most patients choose to for their own comfort. While you numb, your injector will prepare the chosen dermal filler.

Once you are numb and the filler prepared, your injector will begin with your temple filler injections. There may be multiple injection sites for each side depending on your anatomy and the results you want. Generally, you can expect temple filler injections to take anywhere from ten to twenty minutes to complete after numbing.

Temple Filler Aftercare

Immediately following your temple filler in Seattle, you are free to return to work and most of your daily activities. You should avoid strenuous exercise that may cause sweating, bending over, hot tubs, saunas, and touching your temples. Patients can usually begin exercising after a few days, if not the next day.

You can wear makeup and lightly wash your face the next day, but still continue to use caution in the treatment areas. Your filler will take about two weeks to settle and your injector may want to see you for a follow up to discuss your results and add more filler if necessary.

As far as side effects, swelling, bruising, itchiness, redness, and generalized pain near the injection sites are possible and normal. All of these side effects should resolve or become imperceptible within two weeks. If you are concerned, contact your injector at Seattle Plastic Surgery.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What Is The Best Filler For The Temples?

The best filler for the temple differs between patients. In general, thicker fillers are preferred for the temples because the temples do not contain large amounts of soft tissue. Therefore, fillers such as Juvederm Voluma, Restylane Lyft, and Sculptra are often favored. Though every patient has different needs and anatomy, your injector will confer with you on the best filler option for your Tacoma temple filler.

Will Filler In The Temple Lift Eyes?

Yes, temple filler is a great way to lift the eyes. This can correct the appearance of crow’s feet as well as provide the popular “cat eye” look. Sometimes aging can cause slight sagging of the brow due to facial volume loss in the temporal region. Injecting filler in the temples adds back this lost volume, slightly lifting the brows and eyes. Overall, this alteration of the eyes can lead to a younger or more alluring look depending on the patient’s goals.

How Much Filler Will I Need?

The amount of filler needed will depend on how hollow your temples are and what you want to achieve. The temples are known to require more filler than other areas of the face. On average, patients typically use between one to two syringes of filler for the temples. Your injector can provide a better estimate once they can examine your temples and understand your goals.

What Age Should I Start Temple Fillers?

While temple hollowing is most often associated with aging, people of all ages undergo temple filler for a variety of reasons. Some patients may have lost weight and see their temples become hollow, others may want the cat eye look. As long as a patient is over eighteen, healthy, and has anatomy compatible with their goals, they can likely undergo temple fillers in Tacoma.

Do Temple Fillers Make A Difference?

In good candidates, temple fillers do make a difference in facial appearance. They can make patients look younger, healthier, less tired, and improve facial aesthetics. Patients are often surprised by the difference that temple fillers can make.
